Leisure

Student Nations

The Nations in Lund are essentially large social clubs and the heart of the student life. They represent your chance to really get involved with Swedish student culture. They are open to all students and there are no entrance requirements. To become a member and to be able to get access to all the fun the Nations organise, you have to pay the Nation fee just like Swedish students do. Once you join a particular Nation it is tradition to become involved in the activities of only that Nation, but your student card will still give you access also to activities at other Nations. Take the opportunity during the introduction weeks to visit a couple of the Nations and pick the one you like the most.

Since there are no specific» student restaurants” in Lund the different student nations serve lunch and dinner at reasonable prices (30 SEK) for a limited number of guests.

The newsletter What’s Up

The International Desk publishes the newsletter What’s Up, together with LUFF (Lund University Foreign Friends). The newsletter will be sent to the e-mail address you have stated on your pre-registration form.

The Mentor programme

If you applied for a mentor in your combined pre-registration you should now have been assigned a mentor group.

The mentor group consists of 3-4 Swedish students (your mentors) and 20-25 international students. Your mentors do this voluntarily because they think it will be fun meeting people from all over the world. Your mentors are familiar with Lund and the way things work around here. They know the nations, the best places to socialise, as well as the best place to go for a workout. If they have not done so before, your mentors will contact you after your introduction weeks. Maybe you will tour the city, have dinner, go to one of the nations’ parties or something similar.

The mentorship is a give and take situation and the mentors need your input and participation as much as you need them, thus if there is something you want to do or see, you can always contact your mentors and see if the group can do it together. You can always contact your mentors for any advice, so do not miss the opportunity to learn more about being a student in Lund!
