Le jour de l’
« Arrival Day » (vous recevrez la date par le biais de votre coordinateur) vous obtiendrez vos clès de votre chambre, et vous vous enregistrerez définitivement pour le « Swedish Language and Orientation Programme » ou SLOP. N’oubliez de contacter l’ International Housing Office » (IHO) si vous comptez arrivez un autre jour que l’Arrival Day.
La première semaine commencera avec un meeting concernant des informations d’ordres générales sur la vie à Lund et à l’Université. Pendant ces premières semaines il y aussi une réunion d’information à propos du département de « business administration » et « economics ». Il est important de noter que tous les étudiants à Lund University sont couverts par une assurance santé. Quoi qu’il en soit il est nécessaire de faire sa carte de sécurité sociale européenne avant de partir (ça prend 2 minutes à la MEP ou autre sécurité sociale).
De nombreuses organisations étudiantes, telles que les « student nations » ou « student unions » offre un large choix d’activités tout au long du semestre. La newsletter « What’s Up » est l’une des sources d’informations qui offre une vision de ce qui se passe dans Lund.
Voyager jusqu’à l’Université de Lund :
Par avion :
La liaison par train entre Malmö et Lund est facile et constante. Le voyage de l’aéroport de Copenhague CPH/Kastrup à la gare de Malmö prend approximativement 30mn. Le prix du ticket est d’environ 120 SEK, soit un peu plus de 12€, il est fort probable que vous ayez a changé de train arriver à Malmö.
L’aéroport de Malmö MMX/Sturup-Lund
L’aéroport local de Malmö, MMX, sert principalement pour des vols domestiques mais il y a aussi la ligne de Ryanair entre Marseille et Malmö. Il y a un bus (« Flybussarna ») de Sturup à Lund. Le départ du bus est d’environ d’un toutes les heures. Le bus s’arrête dans le centre de Lund et à la gare. Le ticket coûte environ 95 SEK, soit 10€.
En train :
Malmö-Lund
Il faut environ 15 min avec les trains locaux (« Pagatag »). Il y a à peu près 4 départs ar heure en semaine (lundi à vendredi) et un peu moins le soir et les week-end. Le prix du ticket est d’environ 40 SEK.
L’Arrival Day :
Vos mentors (qui vous auront déjà contactés par email environ un mois avant votre départ) vous rencontreront à la gare de Lund (jusqu’à environ 19h) et vous conduiront jusqu’à l’AF-Building.
L’international Housing Office et le SLOP seront aussi à l’AF-Building pendant l’arrival day. Toutes les procédures seront donc faites à l’AF-building. Je vous conseille d’arriver tôt dans la matinée, afin d’avoir le temps de trouver un vélo. Surtout n’acheter pas les vélos qui vous sont proposés à la sortie de l’AF-building, vous avez un tas d’annonces de ventes de vélos dans Lund…utilisez-les. Même si certains vélos sont un peu vieux et que pour freiner il faut pédaler dans le sens inverse n’hésiter pas à l’acheter tant qu’il roule et qu’il semble fiable.
L’enregistrement :
Le jour d’arrivée vous recevrez un pack de bienvenue qui contient toutes les informations utiles à propos de l’Université de Lund et la ville elle-même. Vous avez normalement été préenregistré avant le 20 mai et votre coordinateur vous l’a confirmé par email. Vous recevrez donc une enveloppe contenant ce que l’on nomme l’ « enrolment form ». Ce document vous servira à vous connecter à votre boîte email personnel en tant qu’étudiant de Lund University.
Suédois et programme d’orientation :
Vous pouvez avoir des infos concernant ce programme, directement sur cette page : www.lu.se/o.o.i.s/11534 . Si vous vous êtes préenregistré pour le programme, le jour de votre arrivée vous recevrez un programme avec les horaires et lieux des cours. Vous pourrez aussi acheter les livres sur place, qui coûtent environ 30€. Vous pourrez aussi vous inscrire pour différentes excursions organisées. Je pense que ce programme d’orientation est un bon moyen de rencontrer les autres Erasmus dans la même situation que nous au début, et bien évidemment de découvrir la culture suédoise.
Le logement :
L’ « International Housing Office » vous donnera votre contrat ainsi que vos clés. N’oubliez pas d’apporter la preuve de votre premier paiement, que vous avez fait depuis la France pendant le mois d’août si je me rappel bien. Enfin un bus vous conduira directement à votre résidence universitaire.
En ce qui concerne les logements vous avez le choix entre un corridor suédois ou international. Pour ma part j’ai décidé de prendre un corridor international afin de vivre avec des personnes étant dans la même situation que moi. Questions financières :
Devise :
La monnaie suédoise est appelée « krona » (SEK), soit couronne suédoise. 1€ = 9,51 SEK (taux de change mars 2008). Vous avez besoin d’environ 8000 SEK par mois pour couvrir toutes vos dépenses (logement compris).
Change :
Il est possible de changer ses euros directement à l’aéroport de Copenhague et celui de Malmö ou bien directement à la gare de Lund (le Forex est juste en face de la gare).
Ouvrir un compte bancaire :
Ouvrir un compte en Suède est utile si votre banque en France vous prend des frais sur retraits et paiements depuis l’étranger. La procédure est simple, vous avez besoin d’une preuve d’admission (ex : « Letter of Acceptance ») que l’Université vous délivre, un passeport ou carte d’identité valide et vous devez aussi être enregistré à une adresse suédoise (l’IHO fournit donc l’adresse). Si tous ces critères sont remplis le compte peut être ouvert directment sur place. Vous recevrez donc un IBAN que vous pouvez utiliser avec le numéro de SWIFT pour transférer de l’argent de votre compte en France sur votre nouveau compte suédois. Il faut compter environ une semaine pour le transfert.
Divers :
Météo et vêtements :
C’est l’hiver en Suède pendant les mois de Janvier et Février. La neige est attendu dans la plupart du pays, mais dans le sud-ouest c’est souvent pluie et température variant entre -10 +5 degrés celsius. Ne vous attendez donc pas a être couvert de neige…il faudra monter en Laponie pour ça. Le printemps devrait arriver en avril, mais nous n’avons pas eu pour le moment le temps de le voir. La température est censée grimper vers les 15 degrés. L’été arrive en juin, le moment où il est temps de partir pour tous les Erasmus sauf pour ceux qui prolongeront leur stage ici.
Avec toutes ces variations de températures et surtout cette pluie, pensez donc à prendre des vêtements assez chaud….les calanques même en décembre c’est fini.
Téléphone portable :
Vous recevrez une puce suédoise Télé 2 pendant la première semaine. Le jour du meeting d’arrivée à Kharusset. Pensez donc à débloquer votre portable avant de quitter la France, afin d’éviter d’acheter un nouveau portable sur place.
During Arrival Day you will be registered at Lund University, get your keys to accommodation, and you will sign in to the Swedish Language and Orientation Programme (if you have applied). Don’t forget to contact the International Housing Office if you do not intend to arrive on Arrival day.
The Introduction Weeks start off with a general information meeting and a market aiming to update you on life in Lund and at the university. During these weeks there are also information meetings at the departments. All international students at Lund University have health insurance coverage.
Various international student organisations, the student nations and the student unions offer a large range of activities throughout the semester. The newsletter What’s Up is one source of information that provides a calendar on things to do while in the Lund area.
Travelling to Lund University :
By Air :
Malmö and Lund can be conveniently reached by train. The trip from Copenhagen Airport CPH/Kastrup to Malmö Central Station will take approximately 30 minutes. Tickets can be purchased all the way through to Lund for app. SEK 120, but you may have to change train in Malmö.
Local Airport Malmö MMX/Sturup - Lund
The local airport Malmö-Sturup, MMX, has frequent domestic flights but as well the Ryanair’s line from Marseille. There is a bus service (“Flygbussarna”) from Sturup to Lund. The buses depart at least once an hour. The bus stops in Lund city centre and at the Central Railway Station. The ticket costs about SEK 95.
By train :
Malmö - Lund
It takes approximately 15 min by local commuter trains (“Pågatåg”). These depart approximately 4 times per hour during weekdays, somewhat less frequently in the evening and during weekends. Tickets cost app. SEK 40 .
On Arrival Day
Student mentors will meet you at the Central Railway Station in Lund (until 19.00) at the station and will drive you to the AF-Building
The International Office and the Swedish Language Office will move their activities to the AFBuilding. Thus, all procedures will be managed at one location on Arrival Day. It is very important that you bring your “Letter of Acceptance” to Arrival Day as you will need it during the day as well as for various other procedures throughout the semester.
Check-in
You will receive a ”Welcome package” which contains useful information about Lund University and your stay in Lund. If you have pre-registered before May 20 and been confirmed by a coordinator at Lund University before May 28 you will also receive a personal envelope containing your enrolment form and log on information to your student e-mail account.
Swedish Language and Orientation Programme (SLOP)
Check for updated info at: www.lu.se/o.o.i.s/11534 . Those of you who have pre-registered for this programme will be given information and a schedule from the Swedish Language Office. You will also have the opportunity to buy the course material, which costs app. 30 EURO or SEK 300. You can also sign up for an excursion. This orientation programme is a good tool for know the other exchange student and for learn about the swedish culture as well.
Housing
The International Housing Office will go through necessary information, including the housing contract, hand out keys to those who have pre-registered and been confirmed by a coordinator at Lund University and received housing through the International Housing Office. Don’t forget to bring documentation of the advance payment you have made to the International Housing Office. Finally, once everything has been settled, you will be given a lift to your accomodation.

Financials
Currency
The Swedish currency is called ”krona” (SEK) and ”öre” (100 öre =1 krona). EUR 1~ SEK 9.51 (exchange rate March 2008). You need approximately SEK 8,000 per month to cover your living expenses (housing included).
Money exchange
It is possible to change money at exchange offices at Copenhagen Airport, Malmö Airport and the Central Railway Station in Copenhagen and Malmö as well as the Forex office opposite Lund Central Railway Station.
Opening a bank account
If you intend to stay in Lund longer than six months, it is a good idea to open a Swedish bank account since your bank at home will probably charge you a fee every time you withdraw money in Sweden.
To open an account in Sweden you will need proof of admission (f.ex. Letter of Acceptance) from the university, a valid passport and you must also be registered at a Swedish address (you’ll get it with the IHO). If all the above criteria are fulfilled, the account can usually be opened immediately when you visit the bank. Swedish banks do not usually charge a fee for opening an account, but there is often an annual fee if you need a payment card. When you open an account in Sweden you will receive an IBAN
(international bank account number) which you can use together with the Bank’s SWIFT address to transfer money from your bank abroad to your new account in Sweden. We recommend that you give someone at home a power of attorney to transfer money on your behalf. It usually takes at least one week to transfer money from your bank abroad to your Swedish account.

Weather & Clothing
It is winter in Sweden during January and February. Snow is expected in most parts of the country, but in the southern parts there will probably be rain mixed with snow. The temperature varies between -10 to +5 degrees Celsius. Spring arrives in the end of March and lasts throughout April and May. The temperature will rise to app. 15 degrees Celsius.
The summer comes to Lund in June and stays until mid September. Summer temperature lies app. between +20 – 30 degrees Celsius. In the autumn, September - November, rain starts to fall and the temperature decreases to app. + 5 degrees but can go below 0
degree Celsius. In December winter arrives again and snow might start to fall. Since Skåne, the very southern part of Sweden, is very flat it is a good idea to bring windproof and also warm clothing…calanques in december are gone.
Mobile :
You will get a chip Tele2 for your mobile during the first week. Normally, during the arrival meeting (Kharusset’s place). Think to lock off your french mobile in order to avoid to buy a new one.
