Présentation de la ville de Lund

Lund est une ville de la région de Skane. La ville compte 76000 habitants.La ville fut fondée aux alentours de 990 quand la Scanie appartenait aux danois. Elle devint vite le centre chrétien du nord de l’Europe.

L’Université de Lund fut construite en 1666, et est aujourd’hui l’une des plus grandes institutions universitaires de Suède.

Les origines de Lund ne sont pas exactes. Jusqu’il y a peu, l’on croyait que la ville avait été fondé par le Roi Canute (Roi du Danemark) autour des années 1020. Cependant, les récentes recherches archéologiques ont suggérées que les premiers fondements ont été faits en 990.

Comparée à d’autres villes suédoises, le centre urbain de Lund est bien préservé. Les pavés et son architecture d’origine ont été préservés.

Pendant le 12^ème et 13^ème siècles, quand la ville était le siège de l’archevêque, des églises et des monastères ont été construits. A son apogée, Lund avait 27 églises, mais la plupart d’entre elles furent détruites lors de la Réforme en 1536. Plusieurs buildings médiévaux sont encore présents, notamment la cathédrale de Lund, Liberiet. Le parc de Klostergarden est situé au sud de la ville et le jardin botanique se trouve en plein centre ville, ce qui facilite l’accès à la nature.

Transport en communs

Lund a toujours été sur la principal ligne de train reliant Malmö à Stockholm depuis 1857. Aujourd’hui il existe des lignes directs entre Copenhague et Helsingor via the Oresund Bridge. Cette ligne est principalement desservi par la compagnie Oresundstag, gérée par DSB (une compagnie danoise) et par Skanetrafiken aussi bien que par SJ, deux compagnies suédoises.

Lund est vraiment très proche de l’aéroport de Malmö-Sturup qui est principalement utilisés pour des lignes internes mais qui est aussi utilisé par Ryanair. Kastrup, l’aéroport de Copenhague est plus souvent utilisé pour les vols internationaux et est situé à environ 45 mn de Lund.

Industries

Lund est réellement un cluster d’où naissent les idées nouvelles et ou des sociétés de hautes technologies telles que Sony Ericsson et Ericsson Mobile Platforms, et d’autres sociétés de télécommunications sont installées. L’Institut Technologique de Lund a toujours des relations étroites avec le monde industriel. Il y a même un « business park » au centre des universités, nommé Ideon, qui sert donc de passerelles entre le monde universitaire et les industriels.

D’autres importantes industries comprenant les technologies médicales (Gambro), pharmaceutique (Astra Zeneca), biotechnologiques (Active Biotech, parmi d’autres). L’hopital et l’université de Lund sont deux autres gros employeurs, avec d’importants financements disponibles pour la recherche. Le nombre de français en recherche à Lund nous montre à quel point notre pays peut parfois manquer crûment de moyens dans ce domaine.

Lund est aussi le siège de Tetra Pak, la société qui produit et vend les emballages pour tout ce qui est lait, jus…à travers le monde.

Lund is a city in Skåne. The town has 76000habitants. The city is believed to have been founded around 990, when the Scanian lands belonged to Denmark. It soon became the Christian center of Northern Europe

Lund University, established 1666, is today one of Scandinavia's largest institutions for education and research.

Lund's origins are unclear. Until recently, the town was thought to have been founded by King Canute the Great of Denmark around 1020. However, recent archaeological discoveries suggest that the first settlement was founded around 990.

Compared with many other Swedish cities, the urban heart of Lund is well preserved. Pavements and old architectures are still present.

During the 12th and 13th centuries, when the town was the seat of the archbishop, many churches and monasteries were built. At its peak, Lund had 27 churches, but most of them were demolished as result of the Reformation in 1536. Several medieval buildings remain, including Lund Cathedral, Liberiet. Klostergarden Park and the botanical garden are in the downtown which gives an easy access to the environment.

Railways and public transport

Lund has been on the main railway line between Malmö and Stockholm since 1857. Today there are direct connections to Copenhagen and Helsingør via the Öresund Bridge. This connection is mainly served by the Öresundståg, maintained by DSB, the Danske Statsbaner in Denmark and Skånetrafiken in Scania, as well as by SJ in the rest of Sweden.

Lund is located very close to Malmö-Sturup Airport which is mainly used for domestic flights and Ryanair. Kastrup the airport for Copenhagen is often used for longer international flights, and is about 45 minutes from Lund.

Industry

Lund is a center of high tech companies such as Sony Ericsson and Ericsson Mobile Platforms, and other telecommunication companies. The Lund Institute of Technology has historical connections with the industrial life. There is even a business park within Lund, Ideon, for high tech companies that have ties to the university.

Other important industries include medical technology (Gambro), pharmaceuticals (Astra Zeneca), biotechnology (Active Biotech, among others), (Alfa Laval) and publishing and library services. The hospital and the university in Lund are two other big employers, with extensive research facilities.

Lund is also home to the Tetra Pak company that manufactures and markets paper packaging and equipment for milk, orange juice etc. all over the world.
